Field Trips

School Field Trips

We want the children who visit our farm to learn while they are having fun!  We are currently living through a time where a lot of our children don’t know where their milk, eggs, and produce are raised. We want them to know that they do not just magically appear in their favorite supermarket! The land that McKenna’s Family Farm sits on has been raising produce (and in the agro-tourism world) for close to 50 years.  A little bit of Ozarks history: over forty years ago, the previous owners had trail rides from Rockaway Beach up to the farm where they served their guest a chuck wagon meal, before heading back down the hill. We have been raising pumpkins and produce on our farm for 19 years.  We want the children who visit to leave with appreciation of what happens on a real family farm!

How our field trips work:

  • A classroom field trip is geared for children of all ages. At least 15 paid admissions are required for the school field trip rate. This may be any combination of students, parents, and other guest.

  • Admission for School Field Trips are $5.00 per person. That rate is paid by everyone on the field trip including students, parents, and anyone else who accompanies the class. School employees, with ID, are free.

  • Classroom field trips are available Wednesday through Friday from 9am to 3:00pm.

  • School groups can also bring their lunch to the farm. We have tables with seating for up to 100. The tables are spread out over several camp sites, so seating by class is probably best. There is no cost to use our tables on school field trips, campfires will be extra.

  • School Group rates are also available for groups with less than 15 students for Homeschoolers and smaller daycares. See our Homeschool and Daycare Days information near the bottom of this page

  • Call E.J. at (417) 593-9890, for questions, or to book you school group field trip.

    School Group Check-in

The two easiest ways to check-in are to have one teacher pay for the entire group or to have each teacher pay for their class.  If one teacher is paying for everyone please have that teacher lead the group to the barn.  After paying we will place wristbands on all the teachers, students will not need wristbands.  If you are paying by class, or class rooms, please organize into classes and have the teacher lead their class to the barn.  After paying we will place wristbands on the teachers, students will not need wristbands, and let the class proceed to the activities area.

If other Adults, or children, are accompanying the school, PLEASE let all students and teachers enter the activities area first. it is easiest and least confusing if after they pay, all other parties pay for themselves at the same admission counter. Do not worry, the contained activities area is not so large that they will not be able to find their students within a minute.

    Homeschool Days

  • Parents and their homeschooled children can take advantage of the school group rate and enjoy all that McKenna Family Farm has to offer from 10 till 3 on the selected days.

  • All adults, and students 3 and over, are $5.00 . Children 2 and under are free.

  • When you arrive please inform us you are a homeschool family to receive the $5.00 admission.

  • 2024 Homeschool dates will be announced late summer 2024.

Daycare Days

  • Many smaller daycare providers do not have 10 people to receive the school group discount rate. So, McKenna Family Farm has set aside the above days for smaller daycare providers to receive the same discount as school groups. Caregivers and their children can take advantage of the group rate and play from 10 till 3 on the selected dates.

  • Please bring a business check, or business card, with you as proof of your business.

  • You must make a reservation to receive the school group rate. Please let us know that you are a daycare provider.

  • The 2024 Daycare dates will be announced late summer 2024.

  • Call E.J. at (417) 593-9890 make your reservation.
