In 1990, Ed and Jean McKenna, along with their only son E.J., stepped foot onto farm land that had previously been used for horse rides through the rural part of Branson, Missouri. Throughout the following years, buildings would crop up across the 27 acres of land. A house here, a house there. A wedding chapel. A barn. Chicken coops. As the years moved on, marriage and family would come.

One random night, Ed brought up an idea that had been nagging him for weeks now: why not open a pumpkin patch? Jean thought it was a good idea, and the rest of the family knew — if those two agreed on an idea, it was happening. No doubt about it. So, 2006 became the first year of the McKenna Family Pumpkin Patch. With a few slides, a hayride, and pumpkins galore, the years passed as new activities slowly cropped up. Field trips flooded in. There was a bounce pillow added in 2014, along with new mazes or slides here and there. As the years continued, so did the new ideas springing from Ed, Jean, and EJ alltogether.

A few years after opening the Pumpkin Patch, Ed came up with another idea: starting a produce farm. He had ample experience; he’d been farming since he was a child. Sharing that wisdom and experience with his son, the multiple generations embarked on another journey. Through the years, the produce would get better, and the help would increase with younger generations.
